how to reduce noise at overflow ?

if you have a Durso, extend it to the top until the water lavel is around 2 inches different from the display. If you have not a Durso, get one

If using dunso then increase the size of hole for the air or raise the level of the dunso.

If not dunso then raise the height of all pipe in the overflow box or reduce the opening of the overflow pipe in the sump.

The key is to raise the water level in the overflow box so there is less drop in water level.

I DIY a durso recently, cost me about $7 only. My only flaw is that i never glue the pipes cos i feel its secure enough.

for water flowing down noise (waterfall) i put a cotton wool to break the flow.
