IMO if u are just rearing one cleaner and 2 clown , even there is no light is okie .

however i think u might need a hangon filter with bigger flowrate . i have a hangon rainbow with flowrate rated 600l/hr , if u need it , i can give it to u free . no more using as switching to more reliable brand like eheim.
