FOWLR Combinations

Hi people,

Am going for a FOWLR setup. After I've sold all my LPS I'll be left with 2 talbot damsels, 1 tomato clownfish, 1 cardinalfish, 1 bicolor dottyback. Question, what nice and a bit larger kind of fishes could I still add?

What temp do you normally try to achieve in a FOWLR? Was hoping to decommission my chiller too, and my MH.

u do not nid MH n chiller just normal lights where u can view your fish is enough..large angels would be ncie in a FOWLR

how big is your tank...chiller not neccessay, but if you already have 1 keep it lor.....the lower temperature will also provide better O2 level....also chiller will allow you to add more pumps and even UV...

Personally, i think FOWLR tank needs strong current also, it more natural as fishes are used to strong currents in the ocean.....

My current FOWLR setup is 4x1.5x2. Uses fan which can cool down tank temp to 27 to 29. PL lights. So far so good.

Current LS are:

blue tang

purple tang

sailfin tang

dottyback

humbug damsel

tomato clown

2x cleaner shrimp

Guys any advice?

I have a 3 footer siting in my living room. (Juwel aquarium-RIO series) so comes wiith 2 3 foot flourescent lights. (keep 1 white 10k/ 1 actinic ) I have Live rocks, corals chips sand bed. ( operates with 2x 12volts PC cooling fan , with timer on when lights comes on.

Live stocks:-1 anemone worm, 1 anemone, 9 purple queen anthias, 1 koran angel, 2 turbo snails, 5 chromis. 2 cleaner shrimps.

look out when you change water, as perimeters tend to go crazy.

in th day temp is aroung 27 degree(with fans on) , nite 25 degree

Your aircon in the living room is always turned on issit? How to fan chill to 27 degrees in the day?

It is good to keep your chiller and set your chiller temp to 28 or 29 deg. This will let to to have more room to play with.

By disable the MH and chiller down to 28 of 29 deg for your fowlr, you will find some saving on your electrical bill and still be able to maintance a good water and temp parameter for your fish.

Tangs, large angel, hog fish and trigger are good choice for Fowlr combination.

First day FOWLR miss my corals already...

Now it's barely noon time and my temp already 28.5 good thing my

thermometer records highest and lowest temps I'll just check later what's

the highest temp. From what I gather, 29 should be the max right? Right now only running a single 6 inch fan.

Dont worry bro, you can alway add in some softies to your fowlr.

Leather coral, mushroom is a good choice as most of the fish dont pick on it except butterfly.

Current my also going to fowlr with softies and clam only. No LPS, and it look much better as compare to LR only.

after 2 days without chiller, my max temp is 30.5 degrees. Would it be safe to add fishes in this couldron?

no problem, the fishes can take it. My water temp range 30 - 31.

I would suggest you stay away from trigger & eel, as it would limit your future choice of live stock to add.

have introduced a latticed butterfly in my tank since Ihave gone fowlr. it's been there for 2 weeks now and is already eating quite well. beautiful fish
