bloodlamb
hi, Selling some excess items. 1) Macro JS-350 in-sump skimmer (5.5" x 21") - $70 4 months old. Selling due to upgrading. Does not come with a pump. This is not a needlewheel model. Please note that there is no pump. Does not have a return outlet flexible pipe, Jireh keep insisting that this particular model does not have one. I use a 25mm tee and piping to reducing splashing. 2) Ehiem 1262 - $180 4 months old but used only < 1 week externally in Jan 05. I have changed the plug to the local 3 pin. Selling as it is an extra. Originally had planned to have two return pump, but system that Jireh designed could not handle the return of two pumps without diverting almost all the flow of one pump out to the sump. Self collect in Seng Kang, Rivervale Cres. Please PM your interest.

enjoyfish
Hi, Can I know how big is your tank? Is it designed and make by Jireh? I am looking for a 4ft tank and was recommended by Jireh to use Macro Venturi Skimmer with pumb Weipro 4000. Any comments? What's the difference between Needle wheel and Venturi driven skimmer? Rdgs
bloodlamb
enjoyfish, Yeah mine is `design` and made by Jireh too. Its a 4x2x2. On the whole its not too bad I guess we all will learn. He recommended and sold me the Macro Venturi Skimmer too. I guess I'm too dumb to tune it to my liking thats why I decided to upgrade to a H&S. I use a SICCE Multi 2500 for the skimmer. Jireh wanted me to use a by pass from my return pump. I hated his piping design so I redo it (thats why I got the other pump for sale.) myself. BTW Jireh is always late so you may want to take that into account when you wait for him. Imagine I call his shop, his wife will say that he reached already and I end up waiting another 1.5 hr for him to deliver my lights.
bloodlamb
enjoyfish, Needle wheel skimmers are more plug and play in the sense that it comes with a matching pump. The pump is suppose to suck in air, chop it up into fine foam/bubbles (with the NW impeller) and feed it into the skimmer. Venturi driven skimmer uses a venturi valve. The flow of the water through the valve suck in air bubbles. You need to buy for own pump for venturi design. One thing to note is (one thing that I do not have and regreted it) is to have the skimmer in a compartment where water is just feed with raw water from the overflow and have a stable water level (i.e not int the last compartment of the sump). hope this is helpful to you
enjoyfish
Thank you for your advise, bloodlamb. The sump tank design by Jireh is a 3 compartment slot - Is it a good design? First compartment - for Filtering Media, Sponge, BioBall Second compartment - for Protein Skimmer Last compartment - reserved for water top-up (raw water). Is your current tank - the professional / amaturer / budget series? Any nice photo to show-off to me? Cheers
bloodlamb
Don't have the professional / amaturer / budget moniker when I got it from him. I'm not really qualify to judge is it a good design. I'm sure that basic design will work. Just that with you they are ways to improve it. One thing to note is the overflow quiet enough without using alot of wool etc. My definitly was'nt and I'm not willing to put a thick wad of wool that needs to be change inside the overflow box.
