Six-line Wrasse

Hi All,

I discovered that my six-liner is acting as a cleaner wrasse, clearing spots and all from my French Angel that has been successfully introduced into my main tank.

A few days ago, i saw the wrasse either following the French Angel or the other way round (the French was itchy) and thought it might just be an act. Following the intensity and the clearing of spots yesterday and today, i noticed how fine my French is that i thought it might be interesting to share with all.

I did read somewhere before in some web-sites that six-liner at times manifests itself as such...and boy it does come in handy for my French !!!

Anyone else have such an experience ?

Not my six-liner unfortunately...always cruising around the LRs for some juicy 'tidbits' though

My 6 lines is a bully king, and pods terminator.

I wonder maybe yours is raised by a pair elder cleaner wrasse as adopted kid in the wild ....

Well I have seen it 'threaten' or strike my neon goby occasionally...but nothing serious.

Melvyn, i did experience sth similar to yours

my story goes like this :i bought a sick yellow tang...didn't realise it was down with ich at the shop because the lighting at the shop was poor and the tank was pretty tall for me to see the fish closely.

after i brought it home, i decided to put it in a betta box and put the box in my sump to monitor its progress as i fed it garlic soaked food, it didn't get better even after 2 days.

then i came across a forum with ang moh's saying that 6line can be used as a cleaner fish and since the ich wasn't getting better and was pretty bad, i decided to go to the lfs where we first met to buy one, and put it in the same betta box as the yellow tang...after 1 night, the tang was completely recovered

i must clarify that i didn't see the 6line cleaning the tang because i am sleeping at night but given the extent of the ich on the tang and how fast it recovered, i do believe tat it was the 6line that cleaned up the ich

Wah... maybe you should try put the 6 lines wrasse with any fish with ich in future. I may try that too.

This can be a good discovery. I'm going to treat my 6 lines better...

yes six liners are cleaners. My six line cleans my flame angel occasionally. Just pecking on my flame if he feels like it.

My flame keeps still when he is near the six line but I am puzzled as to why the flame knows that the six liner is a cleaner because they don't come from the same geographical area and does not exist together in the wild.

I'm thinking, maybe the 6 lines is actually "bullying" on the fish, but the poor fellow so scared, it stunned, cannot move.... after the 6 lines have fun, then let it go? :| )

Hmm.. may can consider getting one coz my PBT also down with ich (white spots) on the body.

But the thing is, morning I see lots of white dots on the pbt body, at night when i come home from work.. whoa! all gone!

Then the next morning I see white dots again...

Is this really ich? I have cleaner shrimp in my tank, if I intro 6 line.. will the 6 line whack my harlequins, boxers, cleaner?

Anyone can offer advice?

my "devilous" 6 lines only harsh on my clownfish, never bother the shrimps. But I witnessed it kind of "rob" food from the shrimps too, although not always.

If you really wanna give a try, suggest get a small one.
