Hello bros,

my koran angel seems to be a bit sick.

He's a new addition and quarantined for 2 weeks and looked pretty okay. However , after 1 week putting him in the display tank , , he's looking not too good.

Lost of appetite , slight rapid gill movement and now likes to hang on the surface with high flow current. right side of fins rotted away 50% and there's a mucus coming out.

at first , I thought it would be oodinum , but the little guy being surviving for past a week , so it can't really be that.

Any ideas ? I've attached a picture of the affected spot. Sorry if the pic quality isn't that good ...

Tank perimeters for Ammonia , Nitrite and Nitrate are 0,0 and 20ppm respectively.

thanks in advance for any advice !!

oops , sorry for the big picture , thought it was small enuff.

this guy is the biggest in the tank. The rest in this 4x2x2 tank is 3 clowns and 1 flame goby. Hmm , could he have been attacked by the hairy crabs

Looks similar to head and lateral line syndrome, which is quite common in fish like the larger angelfish. But normally fish that contract this tend to behave normally, instead of the symptoms you described. You might want to check your tank for stray voltage just in case. ;)

You might want to transfer it back to the quarantine tank and perform a hyposalinity treatment to lower stress levels. Medication you could consider adding would be anti-fungal and anti-bacterial medications as a preventive measure.

Always something more important than fish.
