SRC Member Jun Hong Posted September 10, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 10, 2003 I just add 1 inch grade 1 sand on top of the ugly sand bed since the pure white sand bed gives a very pleasant look. However, the microalgae will grow fast on the sand and the sand bed will turn ugly brown and green in very short time. Again, my snail will only eat the algae grow on live rock and glass and I hardly see them working on sand bed. So anyone of you able to keep your sand bed clean and white as new sand? Please share your experience. BTW, if there any fish or other invert other than snail that will clean the sand bed?
SRC Member Tanzy Posted September 10, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 10, 2003 Sand sifting cukes and strong water current to prevent detritus from settling works well for me. Mellow
sea cucumbers work very well for me too...having a few sand sifting gobies might help also... but i think good water circulation is still the best from detritus build up Quote "Save a reef, grow your own"
