Banded Coral Shrimp

Hi,

I read in LiveAquaria that this shrimp can destroy corals and anemones by nipping them open to feed on ingested food.

Yet it is reef-safe??

I'm confused....

Anyone had bad experience with this shrimp on their corals?

Heard this is not a friendly tankmate....true or not?

yes,its reef-safe but it can be rather aggresive towards fish and other shrimps..

There are quite some variety of these "banded coral shrimp".

Like the gold one, more like cleaner shrimp.

BUt you caqn only keep one in a tank cause if you keep two it is an answer to disaster. Meaning that they will fight whenever their path is crossed the same as maroon clown.

It is reef safe. Any shrimp will steal the food that you feed the corals. It is territorial and grows rather fast. It's nice to have one in the tank.

Just want to be sure that no one has a nasty experience of this shrimp ripping the corals apart coz I have one such shrimp in my reef tank now.

I recall keeping a mated pair of banded coral shrimp in my tank, and I never had any significant problems.

in fact, they stayed at the back of the tank most of the time. irritating.
