Question on Chiller

Recommended Posts

Not sure about the specs of the CL280, but i have been advised before to get a CL450 for my 3ft.

There might be a slight price difference, but i would advise you to get a higher capacity chiller, instead of getting an under-powered one which takes ages to cool down the tank.

the 280 will struggle to cool down your 3 feet. A 450 is the min you should go for. You can try our sponsers here who will gladly help you with it. Sorry couldn't confirm a price here cos I felt it may be affected by demand vs. supply issue.

Try contacting AquaMarin for a start.

1) type of lighting used? FLs, PLs, T5s, MH, etc.....

2) how far r ur proposed lights away from the water surface?

3) total no. of pumps used?

4) power rating (in watts) of pumps?

5) where is ur chiller gonna be situated?

6) what corals/LS u gonna keep?

honestly, i feel that its always better to get a bigger unit so that u wont have to overwork your chiller. Thus it will go easy on your elec bill.

Just like what LightingStrike said, it very much depends on those points that he mentioned. But most impt of all, what lights are u using ?

Im using MH250 + 4 x t5 and im using the cl650 and i still think its not good enough :P

Btw, will the lifespan of the chiller be shorten if place under the cabinet as compare to putting it in the open?

:thanks:

If u wanna put in the cabinet, best is have good ventilation. i wun say that it will shorten the lifespan, but its not as good as if u place it outside so that the heat can escape.
