thinking of having a 3 radiata lionfish n3 antenata with a sohal..would it be nice?

or maybe all 7 different types of lion, but they wont swim that would be very boring

PBT bro,

angry has a nice tank setup with 2 volitans and 2 other fish - maybe you should ask him to post a pic of his tank. ;)

A tank full of lions wouldn't be boring. I have tried that before (without P. radiata at that time cos very difficult to find) and it's a satisfying experience, especially when it come to feeding - all the lions rushing to where your hand is in order to be the first to eat. If you mahage to have a tank of all the species, do post the pic for all to share.

Happy reefing.

bro, actually lionfish and exotic fishes are not my expertise. i am starting out slowly on a 2ft fowlr keeping garden eels, bamboo shark, frogfish. Currently i have no room for a lionfish only tank, but its a fantastic idea. . wld let the other senior reefers out there share their views. . . :P

but wont the lion be staying at a corner..?Synanceia bro does your lion swim around?

Basically yes, they will stay in a favourite hideout (a piece of rockface, a cave, a submersible pump, a piece of airtube) in all sorts of positions (upside down, right-side up, horizontal, vertically head up, vertically head down) and not swim around much (that's why they are anbush predators). The fun is trying to find them amongst the hiding places at different times of the day. And like I mentioned, when it's feeding time, it'll be a mad rush.

Hi bro,

thanks for the kind compliment. Currently keeping two 9" volitans (use to be three until one was taken by a frogfish). Volitans are a hell lot easier to wean than radiatas and the others. Currently keeping also a juvenile zebra moray, a golden stripe grouper and a panther grouper. I feed them twice a week and do monthly water changes (25% only). Lions has been the very first inhabitants and everything else is fine. Me using only PL lights and a weipro skimmer. Nitrate level not very high surprisingly, probably its the deep sandbed and i don't feed them everyday. Check it out here(pics need some updating of course). :) have a nice one.

I have a Volitans with an Orangelined Triggerfish in a 2foot tank. The Lion is very alert and will come to the front of the tank the minute someone approaches the tank. I have already weaned it off livefood and it now feeds totally on chunks of fishmeat (frozen) that I throw into the tank.

Attach a pic of Lion. By the way, the tank used to be my QT, barebottom with just LR and aerator.
