Could be a number of reasons...temperature high, Cyanide poisoning, stress from transportation(water parameters in the small bag), stress from handling, stress from being relocated into a tank with other species of fish. Alot of it is touch and go if you buy direct from a shipment with the fish still in its original transportation bag.

Maybe we should follow Seamonkee's practice and quarantine the fish. Then can observe the fish's behaviour and also will not have other residents who might bully the fish and thereby adding to the stress. :)

Just my 2cents. :P

The temperature will vary during a 24 hour cycle, in the day under good lighting conditions, it can rise to 31C, and drop to 29C at night. So there is a good degree of fluctuation depending on when the temp is measured.

wah!!! ur tank must be veri hot.... mine morning, afternoon hottest only ard 29 at night coolest abt 27.5... sometimes when weather veri cooling tank can even be 27...

You can go to wetmedia.com to read all about flame angels. According to the site, there are flame angels from the Philippines and most Philippines fish are collected using cynide.

It is also something new for me as I thot that Flame angels only come from Hawaii. :whistle

There are also information about flame angels doing well for one month and die all of a sudden.

I think the source (lfs) of which you buy the fish from is very important. Some months back i posted something on Golden Angels dying on me brought from Pasir Ris Farm too...could it be from the same place ?

Pygmy angels are very hard to catch in the wild cos most of them are shy and would hide in their caves. So the only fastest way for divers to catch them are to use cyanide. I personally avoid ls from Philipines (especially fishes) cos alot of them use cyanide to catch. Cyanide fishes 100% will die

Went to a particular Pasir Ris lfs on Thursday and was told by the shopkeeper that the fishes are in the plastic bags for 3 days already  and from Philipines!!! I walk out straight away!!!

Just my opinion. ;):)

IMHO, the temp is not the issue at all, most fishes can live in temp up to even 33C if it's acclimatise properly initially...

Are there any other angels in the tank?

Also, could there be an ammonia spike? coz ur ammonia is not zero?

As for the Golden angel, unless u have a very big tank or if the Golden is introduced as the 1st angel, den the success rate is high... if not, it's very hard to keep alive as they get stressed out...

:P

:cry: Huh? Imagine anyone swimming in their own shit and urine for 3days! Gosh! That must be how the fish feel! No wonder they get stressed!

I also bot fish from a pasir ris farm and it lasted me only one nite in my tank. Definately not my tank as fish from other LFS had no problem in my tank.

I also see discount fishes offered in Pasir ris at almost half what a good LFS would charge. What gives ? maybe it is the way it is collected.

my policy now is to buy fish from good LFS and pay a little more.

Must try to restraint ourself from buying, once we heard a new shipment have arrived, let the shopkeeper put their newly arrived in their holding tank first, once its ready for the hobbyist than we can make our choice, and continue with our on quaritine period,or how abt a return back policy and exchange, provided your water parameter is in recomended range....
