No they do not need.

However depending on the tank condition, it might take as short as 8months or even longer or never for them to pair up and start to spawn.

supporting his replys.

maintain good water parameters to higher the chances

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

hi there vincent. try reading up at wetwebmedia.com as they have great clownfish breeding articles.

in short though, the usual thing that would be breeders neglect is lighting. maintain a strict lighting regime as that is crucial to spawning activity. likewise, feed at regular times.

if you have four clowns, they might still be establishing their sexual hierarchy and wont necessarily pair up in two pairs. dominant clowns (larger ones) usually assume the female gender, with the small ones male. all clowns in the wild are at some point in their life females. that is, they all eventually turn into females. at least, thats what my research has revealed, so all this takes time. how long have you had the clowns? they'll need at least several months to acclimatize to the tank if they're to spawn too.

hope that helps

cheers,

ian

ps: anemones are good but not necessary. clowns are also often commensual, in the absence of an appropriate anemone, with sarcophytons (leather corals), gonioporas, and even euphyllids. if yuo have decent lights, try two or three leather corals. more than one so that the clowns wont play in the leathers such that the leather will be prevented from extending its polyps to photosynthesize.
