I put the tunze in and oh no...my mushrooms were blown over. :o

And even when i directed it towards the glass(right to do so?), the effects of the current can still be felt...impressive...TUNZE rules...

flubberina:

did you buy the non controllable stream? will you buy the controllable one knowing the strength of the stream now? coz the price of the controllable one with control kit can buy 2 normal streams already...

Yup...I bot the one which has no controller. Moreover, I have not really experience the effect of the controllable ones, therefore I can't envisage the effects. :paiseh:

I believe the only people using the controllable ones are Tanzy and Cookiemunster. Try asking them. :)

Just wanna say that the effects are good but I spent quite some time fixing it up to my euro-bracing. (not good w instructonalmanuals....But when I switched it on...viola.... :yeah:

Back to planetq's original question :

Is to use of a SCWD (acknowledge the salt spray, but if kept below SW surface should be okay ?) good enough as it is very much cheaper compared to a Tunze ?

Of course the tradeoff is that the 2 streams are not of high flow as the tunze, but at least the flow can be alternated and is cheap compared SCWD to tunze.

Any bros have good/bad experience with the SCWD to comment ?

erm, what i felt is that for SCWD, you need a powerful PH to drive it. and the overflow has to take it into consideration, if you have a build in overflow, it's not a problem.

I was thinking about it for my 3 feet, but when i use weipro 3000. the i-box which I have cannot handle it, cos it's the small i-box. and then tunze might be too powerful too but it gives a gentle wave.

Tank: 5 X 2 X 2.5

Sump : 3 X 1.5 X 1.8

Tunze 6060

Tunze TF08

Oceanrunner 6500

Deltec AP 902 Protein Skimmer

I-Aquatic Calcium Reactor

Arctica Chiller

Sorry - back to the Tunze Stream :D

Does anyone have a electronic controlable Tunze 6100 ? I would like to see a pciture of the power plug as I want to know how I can connect this to my IKS system..... don't want to buy another wave maker !

My Streams from UK come with the normal 3-pin plug but I think IKS should be able to control the 6100 through the driver box instead of the power plug.

idefix,

Its confirm IKS variable stream model can be control but IKS variable socket because I been running it for mths already.

Just insert the AC plug of the Stream into the IKS variable socket, tune the Stream blue box to the 100% mark, then use your IKS to control its speed.

Min at 25% to max of 100%. I tried 24% and stream does not start and give out beep beep sound.

Thanks Hon,

Do you think it would be possible to do it without the variable socket ?

Maybe directly controlled by the Aquastar ?

idefix,

Aquastar is just the basic system. Thought you own 1 from the pic in your website? The 4 control socket is only able to communicate with the iks socket plug which decode the signal send from the Aquastar, therefore there is no way you can try to control Tunze Stream without the help of the variable or non-variable socket. If you open up the IKS socket, you will see a miniture computer board with many capacitor etc in it. And if you open the Tunze Stream, there are 5 wires in it, connect to the Tunze controller board too. I guess you must understand both circuit functionality before you can try to do so risky connection. Both IKS and Tnze kept close door to their circuit design...
