Having high nitrate level in my tank abt 12-25 even after changing about 30% water. Was looking for solutions n found this on the web. Hope it solves my pro n those who are having the same pro.

A denitrator is very difficult to tune and once its tuned wrongly, you will have to restart and it even might lead to the production of hydrogen sulphide.

Go for a more natural approach

I believe one of the natural approach blue heaven mean is DSB - Deep Sand Bed. Another common way is by using a very powerful skimmer that skim all DOC out of water column before they even have a chance to break down to nitrate.

Powerful skimmer...... do u mean u use a powerful pump or need to buy those ex ex ex $$$ skimmer? I'm using weipro 2021. This skimmer no gd? which accounts for my high nitrate? My ammonia n nirtite all at less than 3mg

Seriously, I still have no experience of those high end skimmer yet like the Beckette, H&S, etc. I am using a pretty common skimmer, MACRO and my nitrate reading is never good.

Wouldn't a combination of both be a better solution

That's why I used a MSB with a powerful skimmer

just remember dsb will need to be changed at least every 2 - 3 years
