Have been keeping RBTA for mths. But it seldom bubble up which it use to be. It extend long tentacle instead most of the time.

Anyone know the reason?

Place directly under 150W MH, feed once a week.

when hungry the bubble tips will appear, maybe you feed too much. I have read this from my search in wetwebmedia.

Oh really! Thanks for sharing this piece of information.....

Maybe you would like to check the brand of bulb you are using, and is it due for replacement.

Some 150W bulb may cause bleaching or burnt on coral.

I've read that only anemone that has clown fish residing will have the bulb tip.

Without clown fish the bulb tip will disappear

No true for my case 'cos mine has two false clown happily hosting it but the bubble tip anemone has long lost it bubble appearances not long after purchase.

I am using 2 x 150W BLV MH 10kk replace since 9Feb05. Looking at the pic, do you think that my RBTA has bleached?

There are 4 RBTA there on the rock. 1 splitted to 3 one mth ago.

Well, the colour are a bit lighter than usual. From the photo, I will not consider them bleach yet. As for the lighter colour, highly due to the diet we fed them. U may wish to introduce more variety and some iodine may helps..... Wow, 1 splitted to 3, maybe you fed them too much 'cos it is known that bubbletip anemone tend to split under stress and one method is heavy feeding.....

PS: The above is purely my opinion and I am no expert..... juz sharing what I know.

BTW, I would like to point out that this thread should belong to the Marine Invertebrates forum rather than the soft coral forum. ;)

Thanks for pointing out the right forum.

Don't think that I overfeed it too, most of the time I will put 1 cube of frozen brineshrimp to it's mouth, by the time it can swallow it, 1/2 already snatched by other fishes already.

Anyway, have read up the anemoneFAQ provide by seafood about bubbling, no one has the answer to it yet. ;)

Brine shrimp is an inferior food for marine..... get something else like market prawn, fresh sliver fish, mysis shrimps, etc.

Yah! Have to say not true. Got 2 percs residing in mine and the bubbletips not there. Using 150W 10k MH for my 2' tank also. Colour of the RBTA still good. Feeding small bit of prawn or clam only once a week which it takes in hungrily. :P
