SRC Member daimy068 Posted May 9, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted May 9, 2005 Hi, Anyone know where I can go to have an aluminium frame made for mounting my MH and T5s? Quite similar to what AT has. 4 footer coming together now that house renos are almost complete and tank already delivered. Quote 48x30x27' Tank. Beckett Skimmer. Deltec PF600s. RM FR Pro. DE 250Wx2. aCe^bOwleRz
Is it those aluminium frames that looks like hanging Curtain? Have you tried PM AT regarding it? I would like to know too It's easier for maintainance as the lights will be slideable
SRC Member daimy068 Posted May 10, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 10, 2005 Hi Izzat, Actually just dropped by Teck Cheong Aluminium at King George's Ave at the recommendation of Weisoon. Thanks Weisoon! They have modular system.ie. aluminium frames with lateral slots on all sides and can be joined at right angles to each other using L-brackets. Pretty easy and flexible to use coz adjustable. Also can be attached to roller rail so the whole frame can slide along the rail. Cost-wise quite reasonable...less than $200 for frame that can accomodate 2x250 fixtures and 2 T5 fixtures by DrEvil together with roller and track. Quote 48x30x27' Tank. Beckett Skimmer. May take a bit of effort to set up/mount though. Me still very lazy, tank pipings still waiting to be set up ever since skimmer arrived quite some time ago. Have really got to get my fat ###### moving. Once everything up, remember to invite me to your house for viewing. Bet your setup will be up earlier than mine, that I am quite sure. SRC Member daimy068 Posted May 15, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 15, 2005 Hi Weisoon! Glad to hear from you! Haha! Looks like we'll have to see who'll be earlier...will probably only transfer in Dec when I finally move into my flat. In the meantime will start cycling sometime in June during the scool hols...only have time then...teaching lah! Wah, putting the frame together was back-breaking work man considering the fact that the carpenters were still putting in bits of carpentry work at my flat, so had to assemble it on the floor of the study. Was squatting there assembling for about an hour when I stood up and my back was killing me! Took me 2 hours to complete! Phew! But seriously, thanks so much for your advice and help! May need to drop by to get some pointers on the piping if you're available! Quote 48x30x27' Tank. Beckett Skimmer. Deltec PF600s. RM FR Pro. DE 250Wx2. DE T5 39Wx4. Tunze 7095+6000x2. aCe^bOwleRz
Nice job bro. Did you DIY the rollers and the product as well? Hmm, if I were to put 4 vertical bars on each corner, would it be better? If there are only 2 vertical bars, does it affect the safety aspect of the unit?
SRC Member daimy068 Posted May 26, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 26, 2005 Hi, Yes, everything can be bought at Teck Cheong. Just have to give them the exact measurements and they'll cut the aluminium pieces to size. Gotta consider the number of joning brackets as well. If you were to distrubute the load at each corner, definitely safer. However, the SWL (Safe Working Load) for each roller is sufficient for the whole assy. Think it is about 15kg or 30kg per roller. Cheers! Quote 48x30x27' Tank. Beckett Skimmer. Deltec PF600s. RM FR Pro. DE 250Wx2. DE T5 39Wx4. Tunze 7095+6000x2.
