Behaviour of your Sun Coral

I wonder most of you the sun coral open up around what time of the day?

I usually feed mine at around 7pm. Sometimes I target feed and sometimes not - both with cyclopeez. After feeding, it will start to open up and that should be normal. Even when my lights go off at 10pm, it will still opened up till early morning around 6.30am. Usually when the lights are off, it opened up more than when lights are on.

What about you guys?

At first, it'll open when I feed.

Once a routine has been established, it'll open waiting to be fed.

Regular feeding is important.

hi chrisyew, how do you target feed cyclopeez? did you mix it with tank water then use syringe to suck up the "mixture"?

Bro before you sleep throw in some cyclopeez. In a few days should open even more. Anyway nice specimen.

Hi MWang,

Yes, I used the tank water and mixed the cyclopeez (once a week will be frozen mysis shrimp) in it. Then used the syringe and tube to target feed it. Once a week I don't target feed but juz pour it in the water and yet it still feed.

I spray a bit of cyclopeez about 1 hour before I feed them over my colony. It helps them to open up more first. Even my drak green one open up like magic five minutes after I sprayed. I usually feed them with mysis.

Mine opens in the evening.

I add a small pinch of cyclopeeze to the tank to get it to open op. Then, I will target feed it with mysis shrimp. On weekends, I will feed each polyp with a small piece of market prawn.

I read that it's not necessary to feed each and individual polyp and thus I didn't bother to feed one by one polyp. Anyway eyesight also no good hehe. So far so good.

True. Mine is under a ledge Opens 24 hrs a day 7 days a week Each polyp is about 50 cent coin size (mine are super sun ) Feed them mysis daily with chunks of fish/ prawn every alternate day

BTW, have anyone here ever notice that after a reasonably long time (a few months or more) that the sun corals colour seems to be lighter in colour? I know this sympton could highly due to the diet we fed them. Juz curious whether the rest of you notice such thing or not.

my sun but pic quality not very good.... the only good thing i noticed was that I had 8 polyp when i bought them, new there are 11
