Hi all!

Wana to know is clove an easy coral to keep? I have recently bought one from LCK110 about 2 weeks plus ago and it has not opened since in my tank. Water parameters is definitely within the specification except for high nitrate reading. All other existing corals are doing fine or thriving except for this newly acquired one. I will appreciate very much for any gurus who have kept successfully share their experience....

:) Greeting :)

oh forget to add....

The placement is about mid level of the tank, almost directly under 150W MH, at a position with mid water flow. Water temperature is around 27/28.

bro,

I'm a novice but i do have 1 that is thriving in my tank. I understand it was quite easy to keep. ;) or is it i'm luck to have one that is healthy . :D it has with me for more than 6mths and is growing.

I notice it prefer gentle current. I'm using T5 - 39w x 4 lighting. do best when i feed with my pump off as you can see the star consuming their food.

cheers and good luck

Hi Jimng!

From what I have search thru' the net, clove coral are supposed to be easy that's why I bought it without hesitate......

Hi Wonder!

Since you have six months of experience on clove.... what do you think is the most likely cause that make it not open? High nitrate? I have to admit my nitrate reading is horrible around 40 to 80 ppm. As for the rest of water parameters, I am confident that they are intact.

:) Greeting :)

I'm not sure why your clove is not opening. I use to have quite high nitrate and it doesn't seems to bother the clove too much :D .

When i reduce my nitrate/phos. by doing water change frequently, it starts to grow :yeah: .

Try to place the clove in a location that there is no direct current and let it stay for a while to see if they start to open. You will notice if one/two clove start to open, the rest will follow.

hope that the above helps :peace:

i have 3 pics in my tank now. all opened big and started to grow a lot of small clove. all about 3 months old.

i place the 1st pic where there is mid current flow and it settled at the mid of my tank. 2nd pic, the bigger one at the high flow at the higher side of my tank (250W MH light). the 3rd pic, it didn't open for 2-3 weeks cos i keep shifting it to the suitable location. now at the bottom of my tank. once it settle, it started to open :D

don't worry, it will open when it is settle ;)
