Hi guys, I'm very new to marine, and would like to start off with a 15" Cube tank.

Here's what I've to work with (currently on hand)

1 x 15" Cube tank

1 x 55w PLL, 1 x 18w PLL

Jebo 502 Mini Hang on Filter

I've worked out a few possibilities:

Shrimps/Crabs only tank:

Mantis? (heard many horror stories on them but nevertheless fascinated by their colors and unique characteristics)

###### shrimps and other types of shrimps/crabs

Seahorse only tank:

Various seahorse sp.

Small fishes only tank:

Various gobies or blennies

Which of the above should I choose? I'm leaning towards shrimps/crabs only tank or seahorse only tank. Any other advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :thanks:

Thanks terryz and damien for the advise... I've actually scrap the idea of a SH tank as well as the 15" Cube tank... now going for a normal 2ft Nano setup of shrimps and gobies/blennies...

What do you guys think of the following tank Occupants:

2 Harlequin Shrimps

4-5 ###### Shrimps

3-4 cleaner shrimps

2 boxer shrimps (r they known as pistol shrimps?)

2 pistol shrimps

2Pipefish

2-3 Firefish

What corals can I add? Is blue crocea diff to maintain?

2 Harlequin Shrimps--Must be a Pair... Eats live starfish so skimmer must be able to handle the load of the dying starfish...

4-5 ###### Shrimps--Good Idea

3-4 cleaner shrimps--No Comments

2 boxer shrimps--Must be pair also... If not will fight and other shrimp will perish too as it is very aggressive...

2 pistol shrimps--No Comments

2Pipefish--Very difficult to feed, same requirement as sh...

2-3 Firefish--Should be okaie...

What corals can I add? Is blue crocea diff to maintain?

With your lighing condition, not really suitable for Clams...

Clams need high lighting demand...

Mushroom, zoos, and some soft coral should be okaie with your lighting...

thanks for the breakdown terryz... and can I ask how to ###### harlequin and boxer shrimps (or izzit the same for all shrimps?)

As for lighting was thinking of upgrading my current lighting to a 55w PLL (something which I've spare :P ) or do u guys suggest I mod it into a "Marine" type of light like T5?

Oh ya as for soft corals > Is cateye bubble a soft coral? I understand its a stinging coral

Harlequin Shrimp... Most LFS will have pairs for sale from time to time... ML have harlequin pairs from time to time...

Not sure about boxer, guess those with eggs are female, those without are male... But advise you not to have boxers, as they are very aggressive and will attack other shrimps...

For Clam, not really sure... Not really keep them before...

For Soft corals, 55w pl is enough liao...

But the more the merrier... lol...

Bubbles are not Soft coral, they are hard coral, LPS...

Bro... You go to the previous website that i gave you... It have info on the different corals... Go to the animal library section.. Got corals and fishes...

Frankly I like the various types of shrimps too. But everytime I add them to the tank, they are always hiding behind the LR and couldn't find them. Though I know they are not dead, but after paying much for them than some fishes, they juz won't appear in front of you to appreciate their color. Simply frustration - hope you know what I mean. ;)

thanks bro I need all the luck... oh ya any advice on the corals that u've or are suitable for shrimps... oh n what fish would u suggest I add for a 2ft tank? I'm quite fond of eels but the only eels I think that're safe for shrimps are garden eels (rite?) Aquamarin just came in a shipment today... wonder how much they cost n whether they're difficult to maintain <_<
