Marine Compatibility Charts

Such compatibility charts only serve as a rough intro guide....

Each species under each group has their own distinctive personality or so (e.g. one common thing we know and often discuss here is that YT & PT are arch-nemesis unless given big tank space).

So more than just the fish species itself, other factors such as tank size and other parameters also do play a part as well... Including which species is introduced into the tank first... as well as size....

Also, within certain groups itself (such as wrasse), there are specific species that are reef safe and some which are not....

It takes experience and of course, proper planning and lots of reading up on a particular species when stocking your tank... many mistakes (including back breaking ones when we have to remove liverocks to recapture a fish) are learned when we intro something that is not compatible.

Cheers! ;)

Found this on a website. Rearranged it in Word format. Hope tat it's helpful when u go for yr shopping.

Found some discrepancies on compatible issues on different books.

Eg. False gammas belong to GROUPER, thus caution when putting in tank in a book. But another book says ok.

BTW, false grammas or dottybacks are known to be aggressive... probably explained the cheap price ($6 or so for one)

True grammas on the other hand are quite peaceful.... (but $$$$)....:D

"BTW, false grammas or dottybacks are known to be aggress"

Ya.... tat a**hole.... killed 2 of my crabeye, 1 fire shrimp, 1 dragonet & 1 algae crab. Only zoom in on this culprit when I saw it tried many many times to attack the cleaner shrimps.... never say die attitude.... Luckily I was in midst of adding in new LR n need some rearranging work. Moved all the LR just to get it....

Pity the color so nice but aggressive. It is confirmed the royal gamma is peaceful? Saw it at a lim chu kang fish shop.

yes it is peaceful

but not to mention price tag

Alternatively, settle for the Brazilian gramma (around $30 to 40 or so when I bought it 2 years ago)

But for me, nothing beats the Royal Gramma in terms of its sheer colour vibrance and that ###### "eyelashes" markings.... Rare to come by and pricing wise.. $$$$$....

See the difference and you know what I mean

Picture 1 (Royal Dottyback) - super aggressive, $6 or so marketprice... definitely no "eyelash" markings and no black dot on dorsal fin...

Picture 2 (Brazilian Gramma) - peaceful, shipment comes in often, around $25 to $40 depending on where you buy from.... lack "eyelash" markings and colours are less vibrant as compared to Royal Gramma. Distinctive black dot on dorsal fin.

Picture 3 (RoyalGramma) - peaceful, shipment is rare and price wise is seasonal and exp.... strong "eyelash" markings and colours are more vibrant and Iridescent... Distinctive black dot on dorsal fin. ONE HELL OF A BEAUTY!!!!!
