Sand Mix

Hi Reefers, can I check whether reefer mix different sand in the tank or lay them in layer? If layer, which type will be first to start, ie starting from the bottom tank.

Appreciate your advice and info.

some reefers tend to mix grade 1 and grade 0 sand. Its all about personal preference. Personally, i only use grade 1 sand bcuz mixing the sand wld result in uneven sand.

usually the bigger ones will tend to "rise" up to the top when mixed... so you'll tend to get bigger particles on top and smaller ones below...

If you are going for a DSB then you should only have grade 0 sand.. maybe with a layer of larger grade over it for decorative purposes (and preventing sand storms)
