Yo Bros,

My tank temp went up to 30.9 C today. I am not keeping anything fanciful just a FOWLR. Any detremental effects on the inhabitants ?

I noticed more activity in the tank and the fishes are going into thier respective place to sleep later :D

:thanks:

PS: I am considering getting a chiller when funds allow.

i think fishes can handle 30.9 degrees, but they prob prefer 27-28 degrees. there are a few ways to lower temp, like using external pump.

in fact, since u are not owning any Chiller, best to support it with fans to bring down the temp...recently, weather quite hot and also your room plays a role in temp too..allow more ventaliation....if i not wrong..... ;)

yeah bro ... i m using fans as well & lately been noticing the temp sometimes go up to 30.5 usually its max 28.8.....

what i did was adjust my lighting schedule. Adjust yr lighting schedule... maybe instead of 10 hrs at one -go with all lights on, hv a break of maybe 2 hrs in the middle with just actinic on......

btw i m using 4 t5s & 2 t8s... my max temp these 3 days has been 29.5

put a fan blowing across something like your sump or where you have maximum movement of water over a surface, like an overflow... i find that blowing a fan just across the water surface alone is not as effective..

of course you'll have to top up water more frequently.. that's when you need to invest in a tubby or other auto top-up devices

I use ice cube to add as a top up of water at time to cool dw e temp...

But dun add alot at one go as it may decrease e temp at a rate too fast for e LS to adjust. :D

not advisable unless you constantly add ice... the point is to keep temperature constantly low, I doube the ice will stay long enough for that
