hi Skipper,

i have done this to my design.. it works .. it make the start up easier and remove air faster .. just make a hole in the pipe and super glue a "good" air valve to the pipe. when want to start, just suck air thru it..

must use good air valve .. those cheap ones will leak air slowly .. so ending up cannot work again ..

and glue properly .. hope it help u ..

Thanks bro. after last nite's tuning, now the flow is faster and more constant. It was slow and i have to reduce suction of my canister. Now can full blast and the water level in the main tank is maintaining. . hope it will not fail me when I'm not at home.... :erm: I'll try to drill hole and fix pipe but will have to do it on the pipe when still running....

got it thru my wife's company partners... but u can try any shop that sells hardware items (most likely not those found in the neighbourhood), my advice, need not get those ex wood with good finishing, just get something of good thickness (for your screws and good support) cos ulitimately u'll either paint or go over it with glossy papers..(suggest the latter) as for measurement, you saw my error... gave too much allowance for the gap, in the end....kua kua.. lucky still can habdle by some other means (suggest by barnacle)... cheers and have fun... dn't hold back if need some concept  of having it done... we're all here to share and learn...
