cruise is other issue.. cause there are other thing rather then just casino only.. u can play sport, swiming, or when landing u can go aboard to play and plus free flow of meal and also got shows....

but casino in main-land if it's not big enough and expand to house alot of other activites around the casino.. then will end up htting flies lor...

anyway not our issue.. be it gd or bad who knows... :D

I am strongly against the idea of the Singapore Government giving the "green light" to built 2 casinos. no doubt, it will boost our economy, infrastructure, etc........ but pls do take a moment to think about the cons.

potential high crime rate, broken families resulting from compulsive gambling, social ills, etc.......

will your children be able to roam ard the streets in Singapore safely at nite ever again?

One's loss is another's gain....... increase in national revenue thru casinos, what about the drop in domestic retail sales.

there's an old chinese saying,

shi du, jiu shu.......... (loosely translated into....... out of 10 that gambled, 9 will lose.)

Citizens of Singapore do not even have a right to vote. why?

Religious institutions are against the idea. why?

sigh........ juz hoping that this will not turn out to be 1 great mistake...... :(

Just pause for a moment and think who the casino operators will employ.....those cheaper overseas workers or Singaporeans? Singapore has already 'priced' itself out of the economy.

If you are the casino operator, will cost be a factor in your operations? Would anyone run a loss making business?

No doubt the infrastructure building up will create jobs requiring both foreign talents and Singaporeans but the running of the casinos' day to day operation will need to take profit and lost into account, so the outcome is quite obvious.

seriously, i'm divided about this topic.

u see. MM Lee made a sensible pt.. "If we don't build a casino, other people will, and we'll lose out." we cannot simply live on our huge reserves, we must try to find a solution to make quick bucks. from, the 1970s onwards, our industry is based on labour-intensive, then the focus shifted to shipping and stuff. we tried to do microchips but failed, so now we are oly left with 3 options- medical hub, educational hub or casino. apparently, those ppl up there think that building a casino is the fastest way to earn bucks.

but think this way, if a poor family wans to change their luck, and borrow from someone the $100 entry fee, then go in there, and lose. wanting to change his luck even more, he will borrow more and lose more. what are the ways for him to get money to get rid of his debt? what if the person is you, and your sister or mother has to go be a prostitute to help pay off the debt.

look around you during weekends, some ppl are really into believing that 4d and toto will change their lives forever.

an abstract:

To reduce the risks of gambling addiction, crime and other social ills, the government said it would restrict access for locals through membership fees of S$100 ($62) per day or S$2,000 a year. The casinos also cannot extend credit to local residents.

means ah long got job oso .. :P

I'm not in favour of any thing related to gambling.

I know of a close relative who played mahjong with his wife and other friends almost everyday at home. They didn't tk care of his only son and just let him go out and play with some kids outside. But, this boy mixed with bad company and went to steal, sniff glue etc, eventually put into jail at the age of ard 18yrs old. His father was very sad abt this, tried to commit suicide and some time later suffered a stoke, he couldn't work now....

At this point, it's too early to say that casinos are beneficial to SG society.

I WAS Not in favour of Casio. However , after thinking out of the box, than I realize that we have NO CHOICE.

So guys, can you think out of the box thinking. Rather than sticking into broken family. If economy not good there will be broken family too ( cause they can't support family ).

Thinak again with High EQ PLEASE.
