WetWet
Nice looking... except it's lacking a theme. A glance at it tells u its a segment of a beautiful reef. I too have a dream of creating a tank that themes around anemone and clown fishes.
SRC Member CKS Posted November 8, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2002 Hey whats that blue coral in the bottom right corner of the 1st picture? somehow it caught my eyes rite away.
SRC Member hongqixian Posted November 8, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2002 I think it is a big blue haddoni. AT did you find the tank in advanced aquarist or reefkeeping? I can't remember. AHA! No DSB!
SRC Member Phang Posted November 8, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2002 It's one of the featured tank of the month in ReefCentral... Right...???

chanbi
AT, i think it will continue to be a dream.. not that u can't be as good but wonder whether u will be able to find those corals in sgp?
Achilles Tang
Precisely! All the hard corals/clams/livestock in the States are CITES-controlled. So they get the best looking corals but they have to pay a premium for them. I asked my US aquarist friend for the price difference between some livestock here and you'll be shocked to know they can pay up to 3 to 4 times more than us! We are lucky and unlucky in some ways! chanbi
AT, went down to reborn yesterday and saw 3 ATs selling at ~$80. One of AT condition look good to me (but it is only their 1st day). btw, are u all still going down to LCK tomorrow? I thought i can join u guys if it is in the afternoon? SRC Member Stenopus Hispidus Posted November 8, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2002 I asked my US aquarist friend for the price difference between some livestock here and you'll be shocked to know they can pay up to 3 to 4 times more than us!...AT Wow!! Colours are stunning indeed. Must have cost him a bomb for livestocks like that. A common anchor branch in US can cost about US$28 but in Singapore its S$18! What a huge gap! Yeah, I can say we are lucky and unlucky @ the same time. Lucky because corals are more affordable but unlucky because we can't get them in colours our US counterparts can. Just out of curiosity, if there is a healthy VERY deep purple Montipora in local LFS selling for $250 (yeah, I mean it) would anyone here be willing to pay for it? I saw it before many years back when I was still studying but the price was completely beyond my reach as a student.

Nope, I would not be willing to pay $250 for it unless there are 5 people willing to share and buy and then frag it.
Achilles Tang
Sighz! If I was stinking rich I would... oh well.... perhaps I would... I would frag it into 5 bits and sell for $100 each... hahaha! <_
B|uEc@rpEt
Highest I will pay for prob $150.... SRC Member Stenopus Hispidus Posted November 8, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2002 That Monti was about 10" long and boy...I mean...its really US standard of purple (the whole thing) not just tinges of light purple along the edge which normally comes in once in a while. Could slap myself for missing that...I decided to go 50/50 with a friend but when I brought the money down the next day, it was gone...sheesh... All it takes is 1 day! Wonder if that coral is still alive in someone's tank. Well at least I know who I can share the cost of coral with now if I ever see it again...IF... There's Morgan, AT & BlueC. Divide by 4...Now thats something that will make me get that coral on the spot without second thoughts about money. Cool. BlueC, I must say that you've got a good threshold for purchasing coral...$150...Phew...
B|uEc@rpEt
Hi SH... chanbi
Me too.. Sound like we do have enough "keen" people around? Maybe AT should communicate this to the LFS and hopefully they will bring in some "beauties"?
