Caulerpa is a family name of an algae plant, they have a few species namely, grape (remosa), fern etc.

I thought plant needs both nitrate and phosphate to grow ? so it should absorbed both shouldn' it ?

Caulerpa algae does reduce the above-mentioned elements. But the trick is to know how large the refugium should be to house enough caulerpa to reduce or eliminate NO3/PO4. The rule of thumb of 1:1 (tank, fuge) is not accurate as different tank got different specs, equipments, water quality, husbandry skills, etc.

As not to deviate from the topic of the post... rollyboy14, the shop in yishun central sometimes carry them... but i advise not to buy from them as the water quality is horrendous. Try T95 near yishun... if you going to town reborn have tons of it.

do i need to acclimate the caluerpa before putting it in the sump ? 35cents, where is this T95, any popular landmark near it, easy for me to locate .
