hi everyone, just want to also find out what do you guys do with the thick layer of detritus in the sump. I have a overflow and even passing thru the floss, the sump still accumulates a thick later of detritus (abt 5 mm)

does it contribute to nitrates? my snails are not interested in cleaning it up.

anyone advocate siphoning the later of detritus out on a regular basis.

I have lots of pods, could the detritus be the contributing factor? if so maybe I should just leave it...

can some experts comment ? thanks ! :yeah:

I like to clear out the sump muck regularly.
