yeah same here, but then some site I came across says if its mantis shrimp it should be a series of taps (caused by them excavating in the LR) if its one tap or 2 taps only, it should be a pistol shrimp, but I don't have any pistol shrimps (I think no way they'll come with LR rite?) so my ony worried conclusion is, is my tank giving way?

Ever got a pistol in my parents tank before. Don't know where it came from too. Could hear the snapping sound once a while. Saw it came out once a to grab a piece of shrimp. Shy creature. Last seen about 2" in length  before it goes MIA.

i've always heard series of tapping sounds comin form the live rocks, its like 5 taps or more each time. are they able to kill fishes with a single blow without the fish being able to escape? i've noticed that in my tank fishes that stay outside of rocks are doin well and fine, however those that choose to enter the rocks never came out alive. Although they were'nt gobbled up but they always surfaced with wounds here and there. but then again mantis shrimp should be able to gobble up fishes don't they?
