So who is participating :heh:

It is suppose to be organised by the Singapore Marine Association.

(Who are they ?)

Got this from the brochure :-

Registration fee : $100 per entry

This will cover :

1. 3ft x 2ft x 2ft tank

2. Filter + Pump

3. Metal Halide Light

4. Chiller

5. Skimmer

6. Seawater if required

7. Optional equipment upon approval

Competition livetstocks and equipments must be brought to Singapore Expo Hall 3 on 24 May 2005, 9.00am onwards. Judging will take place on 25 May 2005 at 4.00pm.

:whistle Only about 30hrs to setup & commission a Marine competition tank before juding take place. What is the likely Marine Tanks types; i.e Fish & Species only, MixReef, SPS Reef. Guess it must be quite a task to get everything ready for judging within the short duration. Probably more LS stress during the actual display.

Reputable local and foreign judges have been invited to judge the competition. The decision of the judges is final and no disputes will be entertained.

And who are the judges ?

Hmmm...judging an aquarium on just how it looks like in a few days is a joke. I still vaguely remember the last aquarama I attended. I saw tanks with dyed parrotfish, reef tanks with fish being overcrowded that they look they just burst out from a sardine can, and seahorses in reef tanks. I just hope it improves this year by sensible stocking for education..not just for the WOW factor. Many newbies perceive what they see during the event as being the right thing to do. Imagine someone just starting out sees seahorses swimming in tanks with tangs and corals and sets up a tank that way only finding out too late that it was not appropriate. Such incidents could have been avoided.

Always something more important than fish.
