Anyone can advice is this an itch? I have Warrse aka Dr fish...would this help?

If I increase the temperature of the water, would this help?

If not, what can I do? :(

yes, a;so called white spots. BT is very vulnerable to this disease esp when first introduced into a new tank.

You can do a FW dip a few times a day, lower the salinity to 1.09, use of UV light or a combination of all three. Looks like your cleaner wrasse is doing it's job picking on the spots.

if its eating well then just add garlic to whatever you feed the fish with

i've won 2 battles with ich this way...never tried the FW dip method..i find it abit risky but if you're confident...why not?

btw, check your water parameters...sth could be off

had a similar case when i just got my BT. I use garlic supplement inside thier food with great success.

Never dare try the FW dip and i didn't go hyposalinity too but I do run UV light. Dun know if the UV plays a part here in killing the free floating parasite?

It will go away in around 2 weeks. I use Seachem Garlic Guard.

Nice BT you got there :D

Cleaner wrasses won't cure whitespot. They will just be another host for whitespot to poliferate on.

Garlic works well..there has been recent talks on ginger too..search the net. ;)

Always something more important than fish.

Can I throw a couple of Garlic into the tank? Does this help?

If not, what about squeeze garlic juice?

Will this kill LS?

:ooh: huh?? throw couple of garlic into ur tank? erm.. not cooking "bak ku teh" leh..:pinch: if u not confident of FWD, drop the idea.. check ur water parameter, if can, stable it.. and keep feeding..once they are happily eating & has the allowance to swim, slowly ich is nth to them.. same as not expecting us to get well given a dirty environment... ;) same time, do take time to search for same topic.. it will be useful to u at times.. ;)

Juz my 2cents..

Good luck :peace:

Hi,

I am currently performing HypoSalinity(Hospital) for all the fish.

Currently residing in the Main Tank now:

1. Shrimp

2. Hermit Crab

3. Snail

4. Anemone

5. Tube Worm

6. Turtle weed

7. Star Fish

Question:

1. Do I need to removed any of the above to ensure that the Itch/White Spot bacteria will died off in 8 weeks?

2. Can I put LR in the Hospital? Will the low salinity kill the LR?

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

:thanks:

may i know if you have any other fishes in the tank? if yes, perhaps you will like to quarantine this sick fish. reduce stress on the fish, mimick its natural home as closely as possible, at the same time, dosing medication and feeding it nutrient-rich food soaked in garlic. for ur info, u can try using garlicguard. (its a product)

after the the ich is gone, let the fish remain in the tank for another 7 days to ensure all the entire life cycle of the ich parasite is over. then they will... ALL DIE! :pirate:

Bro, you are taking a very big risk of inverts dying on you which in turn will crash your whole system.I never experience but have read some reefers anguish in other reef communities. If you want to try hypo-salinity I suggest you try out of the main tank.

Hopefully ich will be gone

Sorry to hijack your thread... because I am currently faced with the same situation.... though we can share some experience...

Mine is a FOWLR, so was wondering is it ok to do a hyposalinity in the main tank?

Funny thing is the only one with ich is the Asfur angel and blue tang... two new introduction which came in last week...

As for the original members of my tank, the funny thing is there is not a single white dot on them...

Now frantically feeding them with garlic soaked food, they are all still feeding well...

And doing a KENT RXP in the main tank for twice a day.... to see how it goes...

Hi seamonkey,

Mine too, only Blue Tang & Mandrain Goby seem to have White Spot, the rest looks okay, but who know when they will had it, once their immunity is low.

I am doing Hypo now, waiting for 2 months to have the main tank cleared of Itch/White Spot Bacteria.

Currently, the fish in Hypo looks good, only that their playground from 4ft now shrink to 1.5ft....:(

Interestingly, my original members of the tank... sailfin tang, yellow tang has not a single spot on them... so is my kunzlinger wrasse and all...

Heard they may have develop an immunity or something...

Now my asfur angel is clear of spots..... with the Kent RXP treatment and garlic supplement....

This morning, all ich seems to head towards the blue tang instead....:D

I am considering letting go that blue tang.... no use fighting an ich battle when one of them (the blue tang) is hosting the enemy prolifically......

Sad decision but maybe one reason why blue tangs should never be in display tanks despite their vibrant colours.... :(

Anybody wants an ich filled blue tang? FREE!

Anyway, I guess everyone in my tank has a fair chance of building its immunity since they are all eating the garlic food like pigs.....

As for the blue tang, it is wasting away.... haven't eat for one week.. and the ich on the body is getting more by the day....

My speculation (and hope perhaps) is that the tang will be the "sacrificial" saviour... cruel I may be but one fish die better than whole tank of other expensive fishes.... hopefully, while attracting all the ich to its body, the blue tang is giving the other fishes some buying time to build its immunity... though I know the window period is only three days or so, before the ich hatch and become free swimming....

UV Light has been transferred from sump to work in main tank.... funny it may be, but I am not taking any chances...

Keep me posted of your battles, bro klim....

Hi, you may like to read this very informative website, which contains the various treatments and the efficacy of garlic, and the development of immunity to the parasite:

http://www.marineaquariumadvice.com/aquarium_fish_1.html

From my experience, if not ALL fish from the affected tank are treated, the problem may recur. This is also true if the tank is not treated itself - leaving the tank to 'fallow' (devoid of any fish) for 30 days may be the solution as the article suggests. If the infection is not eliminated completely, the parasite can certainly recur.

Hi Seamonkey,

Maybe u can passed me the BT, I will try to cure for you. Can call me at 98585112...

Updates:

I have using HYPO for 1+ week and all my fish had recovered, not seeing any spot or itch on them. They are eating perfectly with the pellet soak in Garlic Guard.

I will continue to endure for another 6 weeks before I transfer them back to main tank.

Currently the Main tank only have Shrimp, Star Fish, Hermit Crabs, Snail and tube worms. They are really lonely without fish and no debris to feed on. They are starting to eat all the Algae on the rocks.

Will continue to update.
