i have called Dr Chill today to inquire about a chiller system for my new 5ft tank. He suggested a cooling coil in the sump, stating that it is more efficient and last one pump to operate.

He have a project in the seafood restaurant in the tuff club.

Hope people who have tried this type of system give their reviewed on this type of system.

i think daeil also have a model for the in sump type....but dunno why can't seems to find the #$%$# site....

anyway, i remeber from the spec the 1/4 HP very actually has lesser cooling power that its out-sump cooling counter part.....dunno why its seems that its more ineffectent

This is my 2/3 hp titatium coil I got from Bro Teo contact for direct cooling into the sump. coil will be place in the last chamber for water to drawn up to the tank and the temperature probe on the 1 compartment to measure the water return. I think this will be fairly accurate and effeciency should be great.

save you the cost and trouble of an additonal pump, "old" way rock!

ya... old way rock. i agree with you. the cooling is much faster and it save both the pump use and the running time for the chiller too :P

Maximum flow

Maximum Contact

Maximum Effeciency

Best accuracy, as my coil is in 3rd compartment sending the water up to my tank and my temperature probe is checking the temp in the return , 1st compartment

may i know you re-work your present chiller or you bought a new chiller (diy)? if you re-work on your chiller, do you have to change your chiller compressor to support the extension of your cooling coil?

actually most of the seafood restaurant using this method to cool their tank water and it have been around for a long time :P

This is a brand new custom made chiller that I purchase, everything is made to order 1/2 hp compressor made in Germany, 4 meter of flexible stainles steel connector between the 2/3 hp Titatium coil and the chiller, the termostat is increamenting at 0.1 degree C. I can control within cutting in and out at 0.1 increment. The only thing missing I should have ask for a integrated Amp meter connected so I can also see the consumption. So far quite happy with the performance and accuracy when I check the temp in my 5 x 2 x 2.5 ft tank compare to the temp recorded in the sump with the chiller thermometer they are the same.

I am still cycling my tank with life rock and my MH light and 2 more pump for the skimmer is not connected yet will do a full review once all my equiment is in tack and running.
