Strange Behaviour Of Clarkii Clown

Hi all,

Just recently, my Clarkii Clown started "fanning" a particular spot of the sandbed with

its tail, thus creating a "crater" in the sandbed. I don't really mind except that in doing

so, it is pushing the sand to cover the sides of the Orange Fungia.

Each time I smooth out the sand, it will do it again. :(

Anyone knows what the clown is up to?

Thanks.

It may be a mating ritual... Trying to attract a mate...

Why not get another one that is smaller in size and try out???? Think clown is duo sexual. When small, they are male, older, they becomes female.

Have to go confirm yourself. Good luck!!!

Thanks, bro & sis. :)

I recall another reefer's clown had spawned before. Hopefully he could

comment whether his clowns behaved this way?

When my pair of tomato are preparing to spawn, I've seen the female digging up a crater on my sandbed. But yours is a lone ranger :P

If you get her a mate probably takes at least 8months or longer before they'll start spawning.

If you do get another clown, get a small one so at least you're sure it is not matured yet so more chance for them to cross.

Thanks ... I'll take that as a "yes" ...

Cool! Now I'm on a look-out for another clown ...

hmmm ... what type should I get? Let me see .... :heh:

Hi,

Don't think it is any disease. My clarkii has been doing exhibiting this behaviour for quite some time now. This happens each night before lights out.

It will fan the sand at the same time place to create a depression to lie down to sleep

This has been happening for the last 1 1/2 year...

Ya, same thing with my pair of Clarkii. I think it is normal.

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be, be one.
