Super Flow Pumps

Hi there,

I've heard a lot about the seio super flow pumps and was wondering if I could replace my eden power sweep (huge monster) with this. My aquarium is a 2 footer, my questions are:

1. Does the seio use less power than a powerhead?

2. Would the output be too strong for a tank of my size?

3. Would it agitate the water surface?

4. Any risk of shrimps or snails being sucked into its impeller?

5. Are the suction cups reliable?

thanks.

1. Does the seio use less power than a powerhead? Yes, it uses less wattage but gives more power as compared to the normal powerhead including Eden.

2. Would the output be too strong for a tank of my size? Not really but I would not reccommend anything more than 620.

3. Would it agitate the water surface? If you place them high enough they will create ripples.

4. Any risk of shrimps or snails being sucked into its impeller? Not really, unless the LS are in the first place sick, I have snails, cleaner shrimps and sally lightfoots periodically cleaning the intake of the seios none of them ever got caught by it.

5. Are the suction cups reliable? Nope, they will slip and drop. I usually support the suction by placing the Seios on top of a stable LR.

Happy upgrading. :D

i fully agree with gouldian except for no. 5

in my experience, u have to really scrub the glass 1st b4 installing the rio...i did tat and it didn't fall off after 4-5mths...but to play safe, its always better to get the part 6...

for a 2ft tank, it really depends on wat u wanna keep...if LPS, i reckon that 620 should be sufficient...but sps try to go for 820...

when i wanted to set up my 2ft cube, my intention was to use 2 X 820 and 1 X 1100...

you might want to keep track of ur LS like cucumber and something like this.(worm like) Lorensia tank crushed a few days ago because of his (sea cucumber alike creature) got suck into the seio and got chopped into tiny pieces. next thing he knows is all his fish dead after a while.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

For a 4ft tank, should I use SEIO 620, 820 or 1100? :thanks:

For 4ft forget about the 620. You can try a combination of 820 and 1100. :D Personally I will go directly to the 1100. :D
