Which Protein Skimmer Better?

Hi all,

I am interested to know which protein skimmer is better? The weipro 2011 or the sander maxi skimmer which is made in Germany? The guy from SL says that the sander is good. I still can't decide as I am intending to upgrade my thank to a 2 by 2 by 2 soon. Any suggestions?

that statement may be influenced by the fact that the guy from SL is selling the sander maxi skim and not the weipro.

Is it normal that some water collects in the cup? Thought it's suppose to be dry with black or green foam only

I think you should go with weipro between the 2. The bubbles formed by sanders are not as fine and dense as weipro... In protein skimmers, bubble size and density plays a great part in determining whether it a good skimmer. Maybe you can decide after you've seen the both and make a comparison....

if given a choice, i would suggest get a better one.......................schuran, aquaC, H&S etc.

Skimmer is a very important piece of equipment in a marine tank

to save the trouble of upgrading in the future get a better one

it all depends on your budget dude. if it allows, get a better one.

btw...how big is your tank?

Get Weipro....

Can adjust to get green tea or kopi-o somemore....

More lasting n hassle-free..... ( no need change stupid piece of wood every month)

Weipro connected to a pump if used in main aquarium can skim out detritus as well too...

The weipro's performance is quite dependant on the pump you use.so make sure you get a suitable pump or you wont have kopi-o to drink.

Agreed totally. I am also using Weipro 2012 at the moment. However it does not seem to skim as well as bwilly's. I heard that Weipro 3000 has received good comments as 2012's partner. Any other recommendations? What could be the critical component here that affects the skimmer's performance? Power ratings in terms of Ltr/hr, or something else?
