hi...

i'm currently using a hang on filter now... i wanna upgrade to a sump tank... but where do i get the seawater from??? will it affect the fishes, corals and crustacean

in the main tank if i add newly prepared seawater into the sump tank???? or should i take seawater from the tank and mix with newly prepared seawater before i run te sump... or should i let the sump tank run on its own 1st for the refugium(i'm using 1sq ft refugium with 4-5" live sand and liferock with macroalgae) to cured 1st before i run it???

whatever you are going to do, have a hydrometer first.

the concern here is the salinity level. know your current level and just mix a tub of the same for your sump. The secondary concern will be temperature if you are running a chiller at your current tank.

Just top up the water in the sump with new SW... After skimming for a few hours, you are ready to connect the main tank to sump. BTW, if you are running chiller, than it is a different case. Need to ensure Main Tank water and the Sump water dun hv too much temp diff.

It is great to add a Refugium, but yours is too small to make any diff..but still great.
