Hi there :D

Newbie 2 Marine keeping. Can anyone recommend some good & reasonably-priced books 2 read or buy (locally preferred)? Anyone read any informative books frm our libraries? Seem like nearly everything is "On Loan" (guess I'm not the only one looking for free books 2 read .. hehe).

Any help much appreciated.

do a reserve.

its cheap. 50cents for 3wks loan.

good enough.

I did that tat time, within a week

can go down collect. no need

to wait for the collection slip

to arrive. go back online to check

if its reserve for u, then go down

Hi bwilly

Thanx 4 reply. Hehe .. never thought of doin a reservation. Good idea! Is it still 50cents/book, I looked up NLB website, said $1.55/book??. Cost is 1 thing but I guess it would B nice 2 know if the book is worth it, B4 I go & reserve. I kinda feel reservation of library books is like a guessing game coz U never know if its a good book. Thats why it would B great if I can find out some book titles 2 look out 4 (not blindly borrow).

Anyway, hope 2 have better luck next time at the library. Cheers!

These are what I dig out from my library records.

*The tropical marine fish survival manual

*The questions and answers manual of the marine

*A practical guide to setting up your marine

I think I mistaken. it should be $1+ for reservation.

I also renew online, so get confused. hehe..

Hey bwilly

Hehe ... thanx 4 the book titles. Sure hope they will come in handy. Been feelin down lately, most of my fishes R dying. Left with only 3. Hope they dun die on me so soon. MayB reading up on the various diseases mite help me save them. The internet is gd & everything but it beats having an "encyclopedia" around at home for reference I guess.

Thanx again!

P.S : Me sooo sad now :cry2:

Frens,

Other than the above recommendations, are there any new books or references that are worth investing in. Any opinions on

1) The consciotious marine Aquarist by Robert Fenner

2) Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry & natural History by Eric Borement

Thanks.

Hi! bro, what i did was read every book, every book that i can find on the selves... browse through if the book is too "difficult"... frankly speaking... i have read every book that i found in the library at least 3 times...

try the magazine as well, FAMA, tropical fish hobbist, etc

read the past issues as well... dont rush... read slowly...

子非鱼,焉知鱼之乐... (you are not the fish so you...)

Then: my 4FT low tech selling off tank... (2006)

Now: (2014)

Try not to buy there though, i bought my "The conscientious marine aquarist" there and it costed me nearly $20 more than what other places were selling.....
