Eheim canister filter

It's been almost three months since I got my Eheim Pro II. I intend to clean the media this weekend, but am not sure how to go about doing this. Should I just run the media under tap water until the run-off clears? Or for the sake of biological bacteria, only wash a part of the media?

Any advise?

you can take a pail of tank water (salt water in your tank) and put your media inside to rinse it.

Don't wash it in tap water or you will be killing all your good bacteria and will practically be starting all over again.

you can at the same time change water too. siphon out a pail from the tank to wash the media. just gently rinsing to remove the debris. better to wash the first layer top, leave the rest for next time.

never ever wash ur filter with tap water or watever it is.

let the bros said, take some water out of ur tank. and then wash it from there.
