My Nudibranch!

I got this cute little thing after I left it at the aquarium for 2 weeks to see if it would survive. IMO it had been eating the diatoms and the algae on the glass of the tank as it had nothing else to eat in there.

So I bagged it for $6...and now it is in my tank...so far it has been behaving...not doing anything weird except climbing on my glass and sand looking for algae...

So..here it is! :D:P:rolleyes::angel:

most eventually will starve to death...shrinking and gradually disappeared if insufficient food source found in your tank..anyway..good luck ... :D

Heh...I know those coral eaters have really short lifespans...somehow this one does'nt appear to be a coral eater to me..seems more like a grazer...Can see its mouthparts moving while it glides along the glass. :D

Ok...thanks alot for your information. Hopefully it can at least live for another few more weeks in my weirdo tank. Better to leave it to die in the aquarium shop. :D

Hai..confirmed it's a Phyllidiella nigra...read that it eats sponges..hopefully it will eat the sponges on my live rock... ;)

Yup, most nudibranches eat sponges.

You wan to keep those that eat algae or diatoms,

get lettuce Nudibranch from Marine Life.

S$18 each. If you do not know which tank has them, ask Henry.

Hmmm...dunno...I heard that they are impossible to keep alive for a long period of time...but oh well...I'm the kind of person who would experiment with stuff...that's how the hobby progresses right? Must have ppl who continually do experiments...Just like people who experiment with Moorish Idols.. :huh:

My tank already got alot of specialized feeders....like pipefish, razorfish, harlequin shrimp and the infamous hard to keep flame scallops. Hehe..just thought of trying a nudibranch...if this one dies then maybe I shall just stick to the florida one ML has. B)

You can keep this as well. - more challenging and exciting.

Velvet Nudibranch

Chelidonura varians

-Eats flatworms (Planaria), an eyesore to the marine aquarium that eventually becomes plague proportions.

Velvet Nudibranch literally suck them up like a vacuum. Though some mandarins will eat flatworms, it's a hit and miss kind of thing. The only thing which works everytime is the velvet nudibranch. The only thing these creatures eat are flatworms and they will absolutely devour them.
