how long must u off the skimmer when add phyto??

read that u got to off the skimmer when adding phytoplantok since they are like some sort of dead cells.... just wondering how long must i switch off my skimmer after adding thanzz pls advice....

You may try switching it off for at least 1hr after you dose your phyto. Actually it depends on how much you dose.

Depends on the efficiency of ur skimmer... but normally I dun off my skimmer so as not to affect the foaming...

maybe unless you are running dual or quad becketts,BK,Deltec or other powerful skimmers.

Hehe it depends on individual preferences. Some ppl off their skimmers and some ppl dun. No harm to both options. But for me, i kiasu.. hehe i switch off.

one hour is mostly the recommended time.

i switch off the skimmer in hope that most of the food goes to the coral. last time tried with the skimmer on and the food clear up quite fast.

if you are running counter current, then no need to worry la.

is ur skimmer drawing water from ur main tank or sump tank?

if (main) switch it off when dosing;

if (sump) keep skimmer running;

i don't turn off the skimmer, as it skims from the sump. I turn off the return pump from the sump, so that the water in the tank stays inside the tank. Circulation is done by the in-tank wavemakers. After 1 hour then i turn the return pump on again. There is a mild overflow during this 1 hour as i have a secondary loop from my sump and chiller direct into the tank.

no need to off la. once u off your skimmer, u need to let it break in again. not very efficient.

if u r afraid that the skimmer might skim off the photo, dose more..
