New way discovered to catch a nuisance damsel

just wanna share a new way i found on how i catch my nuisance damsel

the damsel has been the first fish in my aquarium, and has grown to 2.5 to 3 inches in my tank oredi.... it being territorial n fierce, has lead me to cease from buying new fishes for quite a long long time....

until today, i saw a percula pair in iwarna this afternoon, i was so tempted to buy that i bought them!

now i hav a prob, i must take the damsel out from my 3ft... otherwise gone will be my perculas...

what did i do?

i bought a fishing line with hooks... the brand is Sabiki, hook size is 3.... see attached pic

then i hook up a mysis shrimp onto the hook n used the same feeding habit of using a container to pour the hook in (usually i defrost the food in the conatiner b4 pouring in)...

as expected, the damsel came to snatched the food on the hook!

after 3 tries, finally he was stuck onto the hook!

well! that's when i just pull it out if the water, hassle free

and now, my perculas can be released without worries

btw, who wans the damsel? pls PM me, i'm lookin forward to giving it away!

forgot to mention, the hook only cost me $1

btw, the fish has already been adopted!

the hook is quite smalll... smaller than mysis... btw, i used PE mysis, maybe that's a bit larger than the common type

I used this method to catch out a green moon wrasse, who terrorized my tank during my newbie days.

I used the same hook... we call it "tamban hooks"! I have never enjoyed fishing so much before! Hahahaa!!

What a good way to catch damsels...haiz...too bad I have a banggai that is an even more voracious eater. It'll catch the hook b4 the damsel even catch a whiff of the bait.

i got my hook at a fishing shop near my house... 1 dollar only... tink u can get it anywhere selling fishing stuffs

dun tink it will hurt the fish cos the hook is so small that it onli hooks onto its upper jaws nia... just like common fishing....

Hi there,

I too, just bought percula clown. Am now quarantining it for 4 weeks, along with three chromis.

While I intend to slowly introduce the new fish to the main tank by housing them in a small specimen tank for about a week (let the damsels work out their aggression with plastic), I am not confident that this will work 100%.

I still have no heart to try this hook idea because I am afraid it might injure the damsel. Open wound could spell infection. Plus, other fish, like my Banggai or Yellow Tang (quite unlikely since it's not a surface feeder) might catch the hook and injure themselves too...

any ideas? rather desperate

HEy bro..IS this the DEvil fish i saw when i came Your house??? hahah....was this that damsel???/ Oh man....COngrets ....congrets ,You;ve been telling/complainning to me that it grew so huge since and cant get it out..Now yOu Did...wow....nice Job...and sure you;re happy about your CatCh...

by rite yellow tang wont be stupid enuff to take the bait, my tank has a yellow tang too... as for banggai, not too sure... perhaps u mean the banggai might take the bait first and get open wound rite?... u can test try with the hook lor... u can always abort when u see the baggai comin b4 ur damsel....
