SRC Member dradttg Posted September 6, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 6, 2003 Hi all, I got 6.2kg of Tropic Marine for $35. I dont really know whether is it good or not. I need to use about 36 plastic spoons (those that comes with packet room) to raise 15 litres of water to 1.021. Should we use the rate of use as a criteria too? SRC Member Volitan Posted September 6, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 6, 2003 I use Coral Reef salt, 6.6kg @ $20 (if I remember correctly). Use 3 plastic cups (those disposable ones, where usually is used in BBQ) for 1 bucket of water (approx 3 gallons). I think tis is one of the cheapest salt available. Achilles Tang
I suggest to all hobbyist to do a search on Reef Central... on this brand of salt and see what the results are for many reefers who switched to it and switched back to whatever they were using before... You may be very surprised!

You may be very surprised! I guess the FAV RC salt is Iinstant Ocean and the 1 having problems is Crystal Sea - which is not Bio-Sea/ Coral Marine or Marine Environment -> but similar to the quality of Aquacraft products. BTW, each time U change salt u will have problems, cauz yr coral already adapt to the environment using the old salt mix.....U simply need time and slow adjustment. When I first started using the new salt, my Acro's poly won't open for the first day, got a shock......after that the first day the result is great, less algae growth note within a few days.....compare to some other brand of salt I've change(2 locally common used brand). Definitely less impurities...I suppose U can do 5~10% water changes for every 5 days till U rollover completely.....do not make large water changes like 15% or more. I suggest no more than 10%.....
