What Kind Of Medium In Filter

hi ...

what kind of medium do u guys normally put in your filter?

i only have carbon, filter wool and bio balls inside the filter....

is it necesary to have nitrate removal, phospate removal or rowaphos etc in the filter system..??

what kind of medium would be beneficial for a 3ft tank...

Well it depends on what u intend to use it for. Mechanical, biological or chemical or all. Also what kind of filter do u have, cannister, trickle wet dry sump?

Main Tank : 48 inch by 36 inch by 28 inch (2 sides starphire glass)
Sump Tank :
Return Pump :
Chiller : Starmax Compressor 1 HP Drop coil
Chiller Return Pump
Protein Skimmer :
Wave Maker :
Fluidised Reactor :

well i reckon u are more or less covered. For biological, u may want to consider doing away with teh bio balls & replacing them with live rocks. I did that with my years ago & found that it s better .

well i reckon u are more or less covered. For biological, u may want to consider doing away with teh bio balls & replacing them with live rocks. I did that with my years ago & found that it s better .

by changing to live rocks and finding it better, what do you mean? is it that the nitrate rates are lower?

Yes less nitrates generated. Nh & nitrites still same... zero. Noticed that the increase in nitrates buildup not as fast as when using bioballs.
