question on tank cycling

hi fellow reefers, need some advise:

i am cycling my tank with LR and 1pc of market prown, wif skimmer & pwrhead on;

is it necessarry to turn on FR(running Rowa) and chiller during the cycling period? why?

1 of newly bought LR is having some foul smell ever since pick up from LFS(but i really like this piece). what is the best way of getting away wif this smell? i am putting into my cycling tank with some other cured LR.

is water salinity must it be always 1.022-1.023 during cycling process?

it's always recommended to run ur FR to bring down ur PO4 from the start, as u will notice it will start giving u problem if u dun bring it down now. Chiller need not be on, no other reasons, since ur corals are not in there yet.

i believe ur LRs are not cured, thus the smell. go through the cycling process, and u will be able to get rid of the smell after partial water change, after cycling process is completed.

i'm not sure about this point, but salinity shld maintain at that range throughout.

ur LR if got any cyno remb to remove them..

unless u got gd skimmer

remb try dun get in contact e cyno with ur hands

bad experience u wun wan to try...

flush e live rocks with fresh water to wash it

always have a lot of bristtleworms from uncured rocks...

even cure ones have one or two sumtimes...

how come hand will have allergic reaction one???

is it just me or are people getting more sensative???

i can dip my hand in and out... and with no allergic reaction.... only when need to wash car or toilet... then my hand starts to 'crack'.... told my wife and mum that i allergic to house work... heehee....

why the need to remove bristleworm?

by flushing the rocks with freshwater, you are basically killing most of the beneficial organism you want living in the LRs.

most 'aliens' in ur LRs will be wipe out during the cycle process, but not garanteed all. some buggers can survive through it.
