Return pump to chiller then to Tank

Hi,

I am trying out to use the return pump (Approx 3000l/h) to my resun cl650 and then back to the main tank (4ft X 1.5ftX1.5ft). Is this config ok?

With this config, the return flow rate is significantly reduced. Can anyone suggest a small enough reurn pump to increase the return flow but yet not reduce the effectiveness of the chiller?

:thanks:

You may want to change to another piping design

I'm using 1 no Eheim 1262 (rated 3400l/h) as return from sump to chiller about 2.5 m away and then to the main tank. The cooling efficiency is good and I'm using 25mm PVC piping. However, as purely for return, the turnover rate is insufficient. I'm running an addition 1262 thru a SCWD into the tank.

Have a dedicated pump for return and a dedicated pump for chiller in a closed loop

Hi KokHui,

If your Chiller and Skimmer requires about the same flowrate e.g. Chiller requires 1500l/hr and the Skimmer requires 1200l/hr, you may get a 3000l/hr Pump T-off to both equipment.

But bear in mind to take "Head Loss" into consideration when you T-off.

For me, I dun bother myself with the Calculation of Head Loss, I just used the next bigger size pump to overcome the head loss.

That's why if you add the example I have given above it totalled 2700l/hr and I used a 3000l/hr pump to drive them. ;)
