Polyfilter

Hi, thinking of getting polyfilters for my cannister filters. Heard it is some sort of resin an not jus wool fibre like the common filter wool. Would appreciate if some users can let me know the performance of it can it reduce NO3 and the lifespan cos it is quite ex like $14 per piece. can it be washed and used again?? Thxx for the feedback

the poly filter claims that it works in power filters, undergravel filters, canister type filters and REOMOVES harmful organics, toxic ammonia, heavy metals and all forms of phosphates rite ??

hmmm i dun think able to reuse like noraml filter...

why not go for the right equipment for removing the unwanted products u wans to remove ???

Supposed to work wonders by removing all the unwanted stuff. I do not use it as part of the filtration system, but only when there is an emergency. It is not reusable.

useful life of polyfilter very much depends on ur tank's bio load, filtration, etc.

polyfilter is not reusable, it is good in absorbing ammonia, heavy metals, PO4, etc; but it also absorbs useful trace elements, etc. as what amteo has said, it is good to keep some on stand by in case of an emergency.

well it also depend on ur bio load too ...

alot of it and the filter will turn dark brown veri fast

i used them many times in the past. I cant say that i ever saw an improvement in the tank. Have not used them now for many years.

Might be good to remove copper after medication treatment.

To my best knowledge, use it only in emergency and initial tank setup when u are waiting for ur sandbed and tank to mature.... (as an additional aid )...

However, my recommendations is not to rely on it as part of the main filtration...

i've been using it in my tank

then i stopped

i didn't notice a difference when i stopped

i guess its more important during emergencies to remove loads of toxins if they get accidentally introduced into your tank
