Hey guys,

Have a few questions to ask:

1) What is the main function of KW? Issit to mix with freshwater so as to maintain the Ca level in the tank?

2) Is that is so, why do people choose to use KW instead of using Ca additives?

3) I heard that KH also affect the KH of the water too. Am i right to say that if i use KW, i can maintain Ca level and maintain KH levels too?

Thanks guys for the help!!! :thanks:

YEs!!!!

It maintains the CA level And prevent PH frm fluctuating.

Not necessarily.KW must be added by slow drip method if not the PH,your fish will up lorry .

All these r jus my 2 cents, any one who thinks that these r wrong pls correct me!!!

kalkwasser will 'maintain' both calcium and kH. Thats the main reason why people uses kalkwasser. It 'prevents' ionic imbalance by 'increasing' both calcium and kh level. However, it really depends on the calcification level in your tank. For most tanks, kH will drop faster than calcium, therefore I have to add sodium bi-carbonate in addition to kalkwasser.

Kalkwasser. This is just one website to look into. There are tonnes of info out there
