Review of Ian's I-Aqua Tank, Skimmer!

And again, i have to said that i am a satisfied customer! With the limited cabinet floor space that i can fork out for the skimmer, there is no way i can squeeze in any other 8" beckett skimmer if without Ian's customisation! And maintaining either the collection cup or the beckett nozzle is a breeze......

Finally i am done! Time to sleep and appreciate your time to read through this lengthy thread. Hope it can be useful! :thanks:

All, thanks for the good word! haha.. on Ian's behalf too! :paiseh:

Whoa.... looks really cool. How are you lighting the system, Chanbi?

Initial plan is to use 8x 39W T5 (which explain why my tank is shorter than normal) but when i start running the system with just 2 pumps (one for return and another for skimmer) and without light, it is already at close to 29 deg. So i was thinking realistically there is no way for me to maintain at ~28 deg (when light is on) with just fans (although that is what my big top up box and kalk stirrer is for). So in the end, still has to use a chiller and my plan change to 4x 39W T5 (mainly actinic) and 2x 250W DE BLV 10k.

The rockscape is awesome

:thanks: Luckily my concept of using just a few big rocks do work out. And i like your tank too! I have been following your thread..

And also the first fish is AT, haha think i will learn from u too.. when i set up a new tank

There will only be a few fishes in my tank and looking through their characters, i thought the AT should be the first one to go in. It is shy and easily stress and being the first fish should help him to overcome some of it, hopefully.. Btw, i admire how Hon can keep this fish without feeding and i actually follow suit. But can tell that it is slimming down.. So for the past few days has been feeding him with pellets (which he does eat!).. Keeping finger cross.

Nice set-up! :D:D:D

Hope you could share your experience of maintaining a scratchless acryllics tank - cuz this is the biggest set-back to acryllics. ;)

I have several times tempted to call Ian but always put off due to the fact that I dunno know how I can clean the walls without scratching them. :paiseh:

Hi Chanbi, great setup. Well thought out and executed :) Love the close loop idea. Ian's workmanship is fantastic.

Just like to find out what are the powerheads you are using? (circled in the attached picture borrowed from Ian's website) :thanks:

It is the IKS turbo pump. Just like the tunze stream with flow rate that can be varies (control by the IKS controller). But of course not as powerful with max 3500l/h. The reason i used it is cos' it cut down on the amt of piping, pumps that is visible in the tank.. (ie. not so prominent as the tunze). And btw, there should be min heat transfer from this pump. Go take a look at IKS website.

So Chanbi, where can we get IKS products in Singapore? ;)

clap clap clap

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
