http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=24551

don have any fishes at all.. just corals... using beckett skimmer with 3x PUR-II carbon and 500ml Aquaphos.

Nitrate < 10

Phosphate = 0

all other parameters in check..

been doing water changes as i wanna get my nitrates down to 0 but after water changes more algae would bloom...

Using overnight tap water + dechlorinator with Marine Environment salt.

change water = more algae..

don change cant get nitrate to 0..

reducing photoperiod doesnt help as stated by GB..

thinking of changing water with NSW...

or just wait patiently for it to disappear by itself..

wat should i do????.... suggestions please..

as I understand PO4 is the clupit of Algae.

Just to remind you whether your PO4 test kits is reliable ?

Few things could be happening.

PUR-II carbon leaching PO4.

Tap water contains PO4. The more water you change the more PO4 you introduce. Use this method only if you use RO/DI water with 0ppm TDS reading.

Aquaphos exhausted or used in not so efficient way. If used in mesh bag then try to knead it daily.

What PO4 testkit are you using? Most hobby testkit has poor lowest detection limit so it shows your PO4 is undetectable you still have some PO4 reading just that either your eyes cannot see the color or the testkit in not capable of testing it.

Best solution, use the aquaphos in a FR, use DO/RI water and use a reliable brand of GAC that don't leach PO4.

Manually ###### of the cyano will help too.

Tune your beckett for wetter skimmer if not clean the collection cup/neck daily.
