WTB chiller

Hi all,

I'm looking for a chiller for my shrimp/planted tank.

1)Preferably at least 1/4Hp.

2)Low noise a must, cannot have loud noise during turn on or turn off.

3)Preferably energy-efficient enough that monthly electricity cost will not exceed $15 when running 200-250L at 25C.

4)Budget below $500.

Actually, I'm posting to look for some advice. After doing some research here and there, I'm still quite unsure which of the cheaper brand/s are reliable/energy-efficient *coughcoughresuncough* so anyone with advice on chiller choice are welcome to post here too even if you're not selling.

Haeil seems to be the second cheapest but unlike Resun, Haeil has unanimously good reviews I think.

I'm quite confused about Resun, good and bad reviews all over the net.

Pacific coo seems good too, but would anyone be willing to sell me his second hand pacific coo chiller at budget price.... :eyebrow:

And is Atman reliable? I read somewhere that it has a problem with its thermostat which can be fixed, but is it reliable/energy-efficient after it's fixed?

Hmmm, I'm assuming yours is a marine tank with plenty of heat sources, so that would be about $10 for a pull down from about 30C to 27C? Is that right?

May I know if you had to tinker with its thermostat and what's your flowrate supplied thru your chiller?

Also, how often it kicks in, and how long does it run each time?

Sorry if I seem like interrogating you, just want to know more specifics. :thanks:

Oh Romeo :P , in the end I exceeded my budget for a 2nd hand PC 1/2hp chiller. If only that teco ra240 wasn't sold yet, it would have been perfect I believe. Nevertheless, the PC chiller sounds silent enough and also seems quite solidly constructed, plus its more btu per $ spent. Pity it's copper coils, but the btu and energy efficiency are what counts I think.
