Tank water smelly?

Hi All,

I was just wondering, I noticed my tank water a bit smelly

as I was cleaning the top layer filter material todae.

Is it normal for marine tank's water to smell(a bit?)?

And whether if there is a way to remove the smell?

(like using some "anti-smell" solution like those anti-algae solutions)

well, i think most marine tanks have this 'sea' smell... probably becoz of the marine livestocks tat we keep...

as long as it don't smell like something that is decomposing..shld be alright!

Geoliquid will remove the smell but it'll cost u....here a discussion about the product Geoliquid

yeah geoliquid its good.

go for activated carbon too, it will remove stinky stuff from ur water. just introduce some into ur filteration system if u dun have them there.

theres pros and cons using it too. although it clears ur water and remove odour. it remove some of ur good minerals from ur water too.

hmm.... cant discribe what smell is that .. not fishy smell though..

then come back wash that time that smell??

i noticed if whenever i use seachem garlic guard my water will also have smell

me too have those garlic smell after using that seachem garlic guard.

but it will be gone after a few hours.

i count that normal. shldnt be a problem.

u sure that there is nothing decomposing in your tank?

Is the tank fully cycled?? there could still be some die-offs like the sponges etc...

Anyway, get some GAC, they work well...
